Letters: The right work culture

Business Standard New Delhi
This refers to the report "Xi visit: Some work, some play"(September 18). With Narendra Modi's background, few thought that he would excel in foreign affairs. Now that he is handling foreign leaders such as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe with equal ease, the realisation is dawning that he could get the best out of both Japan and China. But all the projects and schemes will benefit the society only if they are implemented with efficiency.

Apart from getting financial and technological support from China and Japan, if the Modi government succeeds in transforming the work culture down the line and across the country, it will have better served the socio-economic goals of India. It sounds good that China and India have been signing several memoranda of understanding. But in signing the collaboration agreements for projects, it is important that the country prepares itself with labour reforms and introduces the work culture of its Asian neighbours.
