Letters: Time for action

The editorial “Can Ganga clean government?” (November 12) aptly describes the lack of government proactiveness in taking stringent action against corrupt people. In the recent past, we have seen major scams like the 2G spectrum case, Adarsh Housing society and Commonwealth Games, all of which have considerably tarnished the country’s image. It is ironic that a government headed by an honest person is engulfed in such treacherous scams.

It’s high time the government took serious action against the offenders. Merely removing the guilty from their posts and ordering an inquiry will not be sufficient. They should be punished severely for their deeds. However, this would require a strong political will.
