This refers to the book review “The RSS’ wayward history” (June 8). A major problem with RSS’ old guard was that it could not digest the fact that Mahatma Gandhi had a bigger and a far more diverse following than any of the Hindu Mahasabha or RSS leaders.
Another problem with the Sangh is that its activists are ready to critically examine everything under the sun except their own programmes and policies. Also, the RSS must realise that women today are more assertive and will not accept the rules set by the old male-dominated society. Unless the RSS accepts the new socio-economic order, its following among the youth will continue to dwindle.
