The value of the three passes and six privileged travel orders that serving and retired railwaymen enjoy – not only for themselves but for their extended families including parents (and possibly in-laws) – form a high percentage of the passenger earnings of the Railways. Can they perhaps be persuaded to consider sacrificing a part of this large benefit for the cause of the crumbling Indian Railways at this critical juncture?
