It is easy to say the government should not have signed bilateral agreements with various countries (‘My home’s your home’, July 20), but spare a thought for the poor passengers who got poor service on Air India while paying a huge price for it. These passengers from the Gulf send back billions to keep the Indian economy in good shape, and they were being given poor service. This is what the bilateral agreements rectified. If they resulted in Air India’s market share falling, Air India has only itself to blame. Why hasn’t it improved its service quality even after it got new aircraft? Blaming the minister is easy, what has Air India’s board been doing? And if it had a problem with what he was doing, why didn’t the board resign?
