This refers to the editorial "Be responsible" (November 4). If the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) stands up and commits publicly to backing reformist legislation in Parliament, the public will possibly admire its non-partisan attitude. Further, the UPA could use extending support to the passing of reform measures like the Goods and Services Tax as a bargain to get the position of the Leader of Opposition (LoP). This could also help fill key positions like the Central Vigilance Commissioner in the government, where the selection panel should have the LoP as a member.
