Sonu Gujjar’s arguments for accepting the payment made by Maruti and leaving the company are quite specious. He claims he chose to quit the company because he knew he would not be able to win the disciplinary cases since he would have to argue the case against company lawyers. It is common knowledge that in an internal inquiry, if the management engages the services of advocates, the accused is also permitted to be represented by advocates. Gujjar also justifies the amount he was paid by stating that it was the equivalent of the voluntary retirement scheme(VRS) offered by the government. But it only amounts to a ransom and not a VRS since he had been working in the company for less than five years.
