Letters: What ails the PM? - III

Business Standard New Delhi

In his article “A vacuum of leadership” (June 27), A V Rajwade correctly praises Manmohan Singh for bringing a major “about-turn” in the country’s economic policies as finance minister. But since Dr Singh happens to be an accidental prime minister rather than a natural prime minister, he is not free to take decisions. Coalition politics and the National Advisory Council acting as a super Cabinet have made matters worse for him. Had Mr Singh been free of these handicaps, he would have brought the much desired “about-turn” in governance as well and would have nipped scams in the bud.
