Letters: White collar rights

Business Standard New Delhi

This refers to ‘Calling the sick-out bluff’, September 17. It was nice to see that the column did not contain the usual plethora of hollow management terms like ‘consultative approach’ and ‘employee engagement’. The column exposes the true colours of the management and HR fraternity. I fully support Sam Thomas in whatever he and his colleagues have done. The demands made by the pilots are not new and yet the management remained unresponsive.

White collar workers, contrary to what you feel, are a harassed lot. Sadly, in a country where being poor is a supreme virtue, the official machinery does not care to deal with the problems of white collar workers. I am glad Mr Thomas and his colleagues found the courage to stand up for what they believed in and came out successfully.
