Letters: Why blame Basu?

Business Standard New Delhi

A series of columnists have blamed the late Jyoti Basu for West Bengal’s poor performance over the last few decades. The real question to be asked is why the others in the government didn’t think any differently. And, if they didn’t think any differently, why did the people of West Bengal return the CPI(M) to power all these decades?

Those relishing in throwing stones at the CPI(M) would do well to wait for a few years and see if the Trinamool Congress delivers a better government, and whether it allows industry to be set up by taking land from farmers. History has a strange way of repeating itself.
