Letters: Wrong track

Business Standard New Delhi

The story on the dedicated freight corridors (“Dedicated Freight Corridors in super-slow lane”, April 3) is indeed bad news. The DFC held out a very big promise for the Railways as this is what would have allowed the Railways to increase the speed of freight trains. If, as the piece suggests, the corridor is in trouble on account of land issues and the railway minister’s new plans on land acquisitions (“Going off track”, March 30), then the Railways will keep hurtling into disaster.

According to the article, the minister has said that if the land losers object, she is open to looking at a different alignment for the corridor. Naturally, officials are very worried about the “track” the Railways are taking.
