The article “Safe and sound” (December 23) by Kanika Datta factually explores the importance of safety of working women for the Indian economy. Though high-profile crimes draw a lot of media attention, it is the day-to-day pesky incidents that trouble middle-class working women more. This clearly shows that primitive human traits have overtaken collective consciousness of Indian cities. Metros have become the hot spots of criminal activities. This demon can be tamed only with improved law-and-order situation and better geographical distribution of opportunities.
