It is now pretty clear that the intensity and scale of the Australian bush fires — which have scorched its land, killed people and wildlife, and burnt down homes — have links with climate change. Bush fires are common in that part of the world, but these infernos were caused by increasing levels of heat, which have dried the ground and turned it into a tinderbox.
