Till now, Cabinet ministers could spend just Rs 1 lakh on each of the two offices they are allowed to have. This has now been raised to Rs 8 lakh, which includes electrical appliances. In addition, Rs 3 lakh can be spent on furnishing the office at the minister’s residence. May be they won't lean quite so much any more on the state-owned enterprises under their control, for the loan of air-conditioners and carpets.
