Loyal soldiers

Congress party leaders like to call themselves “loyal soldiers” of the party. So it is not surprising to see them stand erect and salute or bend and genuflect before the party’s high command. Nor should anyone be surprised when Congressmen and women behave in a servile manner in the presence of party supremo Sonia Gandhi and her offsprings. Even so, guests at a New Delhi hotel were surprised to find a senior Congressman known for his fiery independence stand up and greet with folded hands Robert Vadra, son-in-law of the party president, when he walked in with some business associates!
