Why will the team that is to oversee the Unique ID project be housed in Yojana Bhavan, home of the Planning Commission? The explanation is that when the issue of setting up a separate group to handle the national ID project came up, it was proposed that the project be handled by Subhash Pani, the Planning Commission secretary. But when the project reached the Cabinet, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said that the project was best handled by Nandan Nilekani, and that he had spoken to Nilekani about it already. But the new team will be housed in Yojana Bhavan, as originally proposed
