One marketer got the timing all wrong. On the morning of November 9, the Meena Bazaar outlet in Ansal Plaza, Delhi, sent out this message to its customers: “Use your 500 and 1,000 notes. Fresh collection of #FestiveEssentials only at Meena Bazaar Ansal Plaza.” The message came with the phone number of the suit-saree-lehenga store. Excited customers jumped at the opportunity, with many of them even calling the store. But their excitement was short-lived. Realising the blooper, Meena Bazaar sent out another mass message, just about an hour after the first one: “Dear Customer, U may have got an SMS today on accepting notes, it was scheduled for last evening but wasn’t delivered, it is no longer valid (sic).”
