If the problem in pay-parity between the civil services and the armed forces and the one-rank-one-pay agitation wasn’t bad enough, the government could soon have more on its plate. It appears the Army bosses have protested about the government’s decision to award seven of the 11 Ashok Chakras given on Republic Day to police personnel. Their argument is that, under a 1964 order, the Ashok Chakra was exclusively meant for the armed forces.
