With the Left parties, especially the CPI(M) losing a lot of seats in the Lok Sabha, the repercussions are being felt in places you’d never think of. The Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust (Sahmat) had its office in a ground floor flat allotted to the CPI(M) in the capital’s Vithalbhai Patel House. But now that the CPI(M) has lost so many seats, its entitlement of government accommodation has also fallen. So, Sahmat has had to move out. It has found refuge in Sitaram Yechury’s official bungalow in Ferozeshah Road. Yechury lives in a private house and has given up his bungalow for party faithfuls.
