So far, courts have been spared the renaming bug, so the high court in Mumbai continues to be called the Bombay High Court, and same for Calcutta, Madras and Gauhati. How long things will remain this way, however, is an open question and, in response to a question in Parliament, Law Minister M Veerappa Moily said the proposals to change the names to Mumbai High Court, Kolkata High Court, Guwahati High Court and Chennai High Court “are under consideration of the government”.
