Business Standard New Delhi
AirAsia, the new kid on the block in the world of low-cost air travel, called a press conference to announce the launch of its operations with the inaugural flight from the Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore. But, true to its image, the airlines ensured that it remained a no-frills event. The press meet was held at the departure gate of the airport with a senior official addressing the media with a banner behind him with the AirAsia logo. Journalists had to stand and take notes on their own stationery (there were no customary freebies such as pens and notebooks). And all this even as passengers were rushing to catch their respective flights.
