As the CPI(M) tries to come to grips with the flashy lifestyle of many of its comrades, Sitaram Yechury had a first-hand experience to share. During a tea break of the extended Central Committee meeting, Yechury told some comrades, “When I was a student leader in Jawaharlal Nehru University, leaders used to come riding bicycles to attend our party’s Delhi unit general body meeting. When I joined the Central Committee, I saw many of them riding bikes and scooters. Now at least 10-20 cars will be parked outside our party office in Delhi when the state unit holds GB meeting.”
