No mail for the rail minister

Before she presented her second Railway Budget as the UPA’s railway minister, Mamata Banerjee had received many letters pleading her to take up some project or the other. This list of letters, however, didn’t have a single communication from the CPI(M), her rival in West Bengal.

“Last year, I alone wrote 22 letters to the railway minister, but let alone fulfilling those demands, she didn’t even send acknowledgments. This year, we decided not to send her any,” said the CPI(M)’s leader in the Lok Sabha, Basudeb Acharia.
