Trinamool Congress rebel M P Kabir Suman reached Parliament last week to deliver a letter to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, with a copy to various others, including party chief Mamata Banerjee, only to find that none of his party members was around. Congress MPs, Suman later told friends, asked him what he was doing there since his party was boycotting the House for a few days — since party chief Banerjee and he no longer see eye to eye, no one thought it important to let him know of the party’s boycott move in advance. Suman’s letter asked that he be excused from attending Parliament regularly since he was unwell.
