It is well known that 2G scam accused Shahid Balwa has been extremely active in framing his defence from Tihar jail. But last week, his enthusiasm for playing his own legal counsel was enough to attract a reprimand from special CBI judge O P Saini.
The rebuke followed an interjection by Balwa, who had taken the liberty of walking to the front of the court when senior public prosecutor U U Lalit was presenting his arguments. Balwa tried to excuse himself saying his lawyer was not present. To which Justice Saini replied that since he was paying his lawyer he should take up the issue of his absence with him. Meanwhile, he was told, be quiet.
