The first response was to claim that everything was fine with their drinks, but the results of tests conducted by the companies have been shown to be invalid in the context of the immediate controversy.

The companies then asked for independent tests in order to prove their claim that the drinks have no pesticide problem, but have then tried to move the courts to prevent such tests, on the grounds that the laboratories being used are not up to the mark.

One company has also tried to gag the non-government organisation that has raised the whole issue, which assumes that the drinks are fine, the controversy is a bogus one, and it is the NGO that is the problem
