Noble cause

According to the rules, the government is giving daily allowances to the five civil society members, who are part of the drafting committee of the Lok Pal Bill. But the father-son duo, Shanti Bhushan and Prashant Bhushan, has refused to take the daily allowance for attending meetings in Delhi. The duo has told the Finance Ministry that since they are involved in a noble job of drafting the Bill, they don’t want to be paid for it. A Finance Ministry official, however, quipped, “Already they have faced so much media ire over their assets, this gesture may be a part of their image-building exercise.”
