At a well-attended public rally in Coimbatore, just as Karat was about to speak, a fan came up to the dais with her new-born daughter and asked Karat to name the kid. With at least 20 flashbulbs going off, Karat leaned into the microphone and announced, ‘The baby’s name is Ramani’.
