Note ban unites political rivals

Anti-demonetisation protests have brought rivals in the Opposition ranks together. On Thursday, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan was surprised to find Trinamool Congress member Kalyan Banerjee and Md Salim of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) engrossed in a conversation on Thursday morning. She commented that they should thank the Bharatiya Janata Party, a rival of both the parties, and the Narendra Modi government’s note ban to have fostered friendship among opponents.
