The railways have various press releases to extol the virtues of various journeys it offers to quaint hill stations across the country. Of all the descriptions, the one for the trip to Matheran is perhaps the hardest to beat. The railway line, we are told, has 221 curves — through all of this, there is just one tunnel towards the end of the route. This tunnel, the ‘One Kiss Tunnel’, apparently is called this since, the railways tell us, it ‘gives a couple time just sufficient for a kiss’.
