One for the road ministry

Business Standard New Delhi
The age-old rivalry between the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and non-IAS government servants is rearing its head in the road ministry of all places. Three new posts of additional director general (ADG) were created in the ministry recently. Under the new structure, all three ADGs will report to the Secretary of the ministry rather than Director General (Roads). This development took place after the former DG (Roads) V L Patankar retired on July 31. He managed to work single-handedly without any ADG and reported to Roads Secretary Vijay Chibber. No wonder the corridors are full of murmurs of turf battles now.
