Chief Economic Adviser Kaushik Basu recently called a press conference to discuss some interesting trends in inflation. But it seemed that even an hour-long discussion was not enough. Each time Basu answered the “last question”, one more question would come up. When this happened thrice, Basu said he would take one more and let it be “really the last one”. But journalists being what they are, every question bred another with a patient Basu trying to accommodate everyone. Finally, to put a stop to the inquisition, Basu jokingly said, “Let me go. My wife is watching all this. What will she think?”
