Tamil Nadu continues to oppose the goods and services tax (GST) that Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa thinks is a way to tax those states that have managed industrial progress. Jayalalithaa's All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) members of Parliament protested against the GST by walking out of the Rajya Sabha before voting on the Constitution Amendment Bill earlier this year. Now it is time for the tax reform to be implemented via the GST Council. Most states have sent their finance ministers as representatives. Tamil Nadu has sent K Pandiarajan, the minister handling school education and sport. Pandiarajan, Jayalalithaa's personal choice, was the AIADMK spokesperson earlier.
