Penguins of Mumbai

Image

Business Standard
Penguins, a group of aquatic, flightless birds, find themselves at the centre of a war of words in Mumbai. The trigger is the untimely death of one of the seven penguins that reside in the city zoo. They were flown from South Korea and kept in a specially made enclave as directed by the ruling Shiv Sena in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and its youth leader Aditya Thackeray. Opposition Congress and Nationalist Congress Party have attacked Shiv Sena holding it responsible for the penguin’s death. Interestingly, Shiv Sena ally Bharatiya Janata Party also joined the melee wondering what one could expect from someone (an oblique reference to Aditya Thackeray) whose understanding is limited to “peg, penguin and party”.
