Newly appointed Uttarakhand Governor, Aziz Qureshi, is trying to play the peacemaker between India and Pakistan. Qureshi has expressed “disgust” on the way “wrong” news was given and later corrected by the Pakistani government on the release of Sarabjit Singh, an Indian on death row in Pakistan. “During the last few years, Sarabjit’s case has not remained confined to the members of his family. His release became a common wish, demand and desire of many peace-loving Indians,” said Qureshi. He has also asked both India and Pakistan governments to start “jihad” against hunger, poverty, illiteracy, superstition, disease, sorrow, suffering and natural calamities.
