The Congress party is not happy with just heading several key ministries in the government. It wants to head the Parliamentary Standing Committees related to these departments. So, at a meeting called by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal on Tuesday, he requested CPI(M)‘s Sitaram Yechury to give up the chairman’s post for Transport, Tourism and Culture. Yechury refused to oblige and said that he prefers to continue to head the same committee. Yechury has headed this committee since April 2006.
