Power-sharing cut

Business Standard New Delhi
The state-owned electricity distribution agency Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) suffered a self-inflicted shock when it disconnected the power supply to a telecom major for not paying its dues. The trouble is that LESA's online billing centre runs on internet services supplied by the same telecom firm, so the billing services were snapped, too, as a result. Making rapid amends, LESA reconnected the telecom service provider's power supply in a jiffy to restore its bill collection service especially as the fiscal year ends. Last heard, the telecom major has now promised to settle all dues within a week.
