A recent lunch get-together of all regulators of the Government of India saw them swapping notes about their job. The common problem: the government doesn't want them to regulate! The legislation to enhance the powers of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India chief is being watched eagerly to figure out if other regulators can also persuade the government to get quasi-judicial powers.
