At a conference organised by the Independent Power Producers Association of India, Anil Divan (a senior advocate in the Supreme Court) asked a partner from law firm Hammurabi and Solomon about the origins of the name of her firm. Hammurabi, he said, was understandable since this king in Babylon created the first set of laws in the world. But Solomon? “How come you named the firm after Solomon, especially when he had 700 wives,” Divan asked. The partner was quick to reply, “Lord Krishna also had many wives but we still worship him,” leaving Divan to “welcome the explanation”.
