As they say, it is always better to leave a little early than to stay way too long. Speaking at a function to felicitate Shipping Secretary Vishwapati Trivedi on his retirement, Union Minister for Shipping and Transport Nitin Gadkari, who was the presiding chief guest, quipped that knowing the right time to retire is not as easy as you might think. Citing Sunil Gavaskar's epic last Test innings in which he scored a valiant 96, he said, "Retire hone mein tab mazaa hai jab log puche ki aap kyun retire ho rahe ho. Jab log puche aap kab retire ho rahe ho, toh..." (It feels good to retire when people ask why you are retiring. When people ask you when you are retiring...), the rest he left unsaid. Wonder if that thought applies to some of the leaders of the party the minister represents.
