After stalling the house for a week over the price rise issue, Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is now looking for a face-saving retreat. The Left and the BJP are not really with him, who, along with Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal, is still asking for a discussion with a provision for voting. Yadav has, however, sent feelers to the ruling establishment that he, too, is keen to end the impasse. The latest offer from him is that the government convene a meeting of various political parties to discuss the situation and end the deadlock.
