In one of the discussions at the WEF, Ankit Fadia, author and ethical hacker, shared how eight out of the 10 Indians in his class at Stanford returned to India. He added that five of them became entrepreneurs to elucidate on the growing number of opportunities the country has for its young. Vikram Chandra, anchor of the session, joined in and said this is a big change from when he was at Stanford in the 90s. “Out of five-six people in my class, only two returned,” said Chandra. At this point, Union HRD Minister Kapil Sibal interjected and remarked, “That says nothing, when I went to the East Coast to study in the early 80s, I was the only one [Indian] in my class and I came back, so it was 100 per cent.”
