Even as the CPI(M) and the CPI joined hands to stall the Capital during the Bharat Bandh over the oil price hike, they made sure they guarded their individual identities during the demonstrations. At the ITO crossing, while CPI leaders were huddled at separate places with their placards and slogans, CPI(M) leaders kept themselves busy at a slight distance. And when the time for courting arrest came, the CPI leaders boarded a DTC bus but the CPI(M) leaders and supporters stayed back and waited for another bus. Later, a CPI(M) leader was seen shouting at a police officer and asking him why his comrades were taken to two different police stations, while the CPI leaders were all sent to one police station.
