Solar Kalawati

After letting every Indian know about Kalawati’s poverty-ridden life when he mentioned her in his speech in Parliament, Congress heir Rahul Gandhi did precious little to help her. Greenpeace, the international environmental NGO has, however, decided to do something for Kalawati — it chose Jalka, Kalawati’s remote village in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, for its solar project. The power plant has been located in the local school, where two of Kalawati’s children study.
