At a recent press conference on the potential of rooftop solar power units, Piyush Goyal, minister of state for coal, power and renewable energy, said the government would ensure substandard material and products didn't find a place in the market.
"I will blacklist anyone who does not supply quality material," he said. "I have three ministries; that company will be blacklisted in all three. I will persuade the cabinet secretary to blacklist that company from everywhere possible."
His statement comes at a time when Indian solar panel makers are fighting a case against some of their US counterparts in the World Trade Organization and a dumping case against Chinese and US solar cell makers in India. Indian players allege that substandard Chinese imports have spoilt the market.
