This is the last Lok Sabha session for Speaker Somnath Chatterjee. And he has started his innings right from where he left in the last session. On Friday, Congress MP Adhir Chowdhury started giving a long speech on the pretext of asking a question. Chatterjee stopped him abruptly and told the MP to ask the question. When Chowdhury argued that he was indeed asking a supplementary, Chatterjee quipped: “This is not a question.
This is torture.” Chatterjee will not be fighting anymore from the Bolpur constituency as it has been declared reserved for Scheduled Castes. Still, the veteran MP continues to feel concerned about Bolpur. He asked two ministers — Railway Minister Lalu Prasad and Minister of State for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja — to give some sops to Bolpur.
