Guess what was the first piece of advice given to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by her senior, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee? All police officers in the state who have a paunch should be made to walk for half an hour twice daily. Mukherjee is still livid that many police officers in Bengal are unable to sit at their desk as their paunch comes in the way. In fact, the joke is that those who attacked the US consulate in Kolkata some years ago got away because the officers on duty were in poor physical shape. Banerjee has accepted the advice. She told Mukherjee that as she herself loved walking and keeping fit, she would try to encourage others as well.
