In the vindictive world of West Bengal politics, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's frosty relationship with her predecessor Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is well known. But it takes trivial extremes. Banerjee often takes her evening walk at Kolkata's Elliot Park in the heart of the city, which was inaugurated by her predecessor. With the chief minister being a frequenter, authorities have given the park a makeover recently. Among other things, this involved removing the foundation stone at the entrance to the park on which Bhattacharjee's name was engraved as the inaugurator.
