It is understandable that Reserve Bank of India Governor Duvvuri Subbarao used the metaphor of the chakravyuha from the Mahabharata while explaining his thinking on the central bank’s monetary policy options.

Subbarao has recently finished reading Gurcharan Das’ recent book based on the Mahabharata, and has of late been reflecting on the epic’s lessons for the world around us, even as he battles inflation!
