While as much as 10-12 per cent of information technology, banking and insurance services could get offshored to India by 2015, consulting firm Evalueserve feels the figure is likely to be as low as 0.2 per cent in the case of legal services "" in terms of the number of people, the figure will be a higher 1.2 per cent. Apart from the fact that the risk of losing confidentiality is much greater in outsourcing legal work as compared to, say, providing credit card data without the clients name, Evalueserve argues the market is in any case limited by the number of large US law firms since only these have enough workload to outsource/offshore "" currently such firms account for just 15 per cent of the US market, or about $40 billion (Rs 180,000 crore) of the total US market of around $270 billion.
